SAN JOSE, Calif. –San Jose Earthquakes defender Kip Colvey has been called up to the New Zealand National Team for a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against the Solomon Islands.



Colvey, 23, and the New Zealand National Team will face the Solomon Islands in Round 3 qualifiers on Sept. 1 local time at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand and again on Sept. 5 local time at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands. New Zealand currently sits on top of Group A in the Oceania region for qualifiers with a 3-1-0 record.


Colvey most recently joined the All-Whites for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, starting and playing 83 minutes against Russia. This season, Colvey has spent an extensive amount of time with Quakes USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC, making seven starts for the Nevada side.
