NEWS: Earthquakes Unveil the We Are San Jose Campaign

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the We Are San Jose campaign, displaying their passion for the city that has served as their home since 1974. The campaign shows that the Quakes are unapologetically and proudly San Jose, and the club embodies the city’s essence.

The campaign features six words that ring true to both the Quakes and San Jose: diverse, disruptive, unshakeable, united, proud and passionate. San Jose is home to a diverse, hard-working and innovative community that can come together with fellow fans, Quakes staff and players at Avaya Stadium to represent their City, while enjoying the shared global experience that only soccer can provide.

“We have a long, intertwined history with San Jose, and with this campaign we are expressing that this is our club, our sport and our town,” said Earthquakes Executive Vice President Jed Mettee. “We embrace the city, with its diverse neighborhoods, innovative thinking and inclusive culture, and praise our fans for standing behind us with unity and devotion for more than 40 years.”

The Quakes’ focus on San Jose will be highlighted throughout the year through their Neighborhood Nights initiative, presented by Wells Fargo. The team’s home games will celebrate diverse neighborhoods around San Jose and the surrounding area, beginning with Downtown San Jose on March 3. Additionally, the team will produce content that spotlights the City and the people that serve as its foundation.

The campaign will feature billboards and VTA placements around San Jose, digital advertising and the club will continue to activate at a grassroots level to create authentic connections with members of the community. The Earthquakes Foundation will strengthen its focus on San Jose this year as well through the Get Earthquakes Fit program, presented by Sutter Health, as well as numerous other charitable activities.

The Quakes are infusing We Are San Jose through all aspects of the organization leading into Opening Night on March 3, presented by Avaya. Throughout the week, the Quakes are hosting activities in Downtown San Jose for MLS Is Back Week, including a social media scavenger hunt, a flag raising ceremony at City Hall followed by a reception at San Pedro Square Market and a FIFA18 tournament. The match is the Downtown San Jose Neighborhood Night. Additionally, both City Hall and the Downtown SoFA District’s Voxel Cloud will be lighted blue this week in honor of the kickoff of the MLS season.
