NEWS: Anibal Godoy, Harold Cummings Called to Panama National Team

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Anibal Godoy and defender Harold Cummings have been called to the Panama National Team for a pair of friendlies later this month against Denmark and Switzerland. The two matches are part of the team’s preparations for this summer’s FIFA World Cup, the country’s first-ever appearance in the tournament.


Panama takes on Denmark on Thursday, March 22 at Brondby Stadium in Brondby, Denmark, before facing off against Switzerland on Tuesday, March 27 at Swissporarena in Lucerne, Switzerland. Both Denmark and Switzerland also qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.


Godoy, 27, has made 60 appearances for San Jose since signing in August of 2015, tallying five goals and three assists. He has made 84 prior appearances for the Panama National Team since his international debut in 2010.


Cummings, 26, joined the Earthquakes ahead of the 2017 season, but didn’t make any appearances during his debut campaign with the club due to injury. He started and played 90 minutes in the club’s 3-2 win over Minnesota United FC in the season opener on March 3. Cummings has made 50 prior appearances for Panama.
