Earthquakes Sign SuperDraft Selection Paul Marie

San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club has signed defender Paul Marie, the club’s first-round selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.  Marie, 22, was selected by San Jose with the 12th overall pick out of Florida International University. After spending his freshman year at Newberry College, where he scored four goals and added an assist, he transferred to Florida International. Marie made 52 appearances for the FIU Panthers and totaled 14 goals and 14 assists. He was a Third Team All-America, First Team All-Southeast Region and First Team All-Conference USA selection as a senior in 2017. Read the full story here.



Jahmir Hyka Obtains Green Card, No Longer Occupies International Spot

The San Jose Earthquakes announced that midfielder Jahmir Hyka has obtained a U.S. green card and no longer occupies an international spot on the club's roster. The green card drops the Quakes from eight international players to seven. Hyka, 30, joined San Jose ahead of the 2017 season. In his debut season with the club, he tallied three goals and five assists in 30 appearances. Hyka has made 43 appearances for the Albania National Team since his international debut in 2007. The San Jose Earthquakes and Inter Milan have entered into a partnership centered around youth development and sports science. Inter, which celebrated 110 years of history last Friday, has displayed a strong commitment to new technologies and sports science. “The partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes, located strategically in the heart of Silicon Valley, will add important value to the Inter Academy as the club spearheads progressive youth development initiatives and sports innovation,” said Barbara Biggi, Director of Global Youth Business at Inter Milan. Earthquakes, Lux Bus America to Offer Free Charter Buses from Downtown San Jose on Match Days

The San Jose Earthquakes and Lux Bus America have partnered to offer two free charter buses for fans traveling to Avaya Stadium from Downtown San Jose on match days, starting Saturday, March 31 when the Quakes host David Villa and NYCFC. The buses will loop from the corner of St. John and Market Street near San Pedro Square to the corner of Earthquakes Way and Coleman Ave., effectively replacing VTA’s discontinued Line 231. Vako Called to Georgia National Team

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Vako has been called to the Georgia National Team for a pair of friendlies later this month against Lithuania and Estonia. Georgia takes on Lithuania on Saturday, March 24, before facing off against Estonia on Tuesday, March 27. Both matches will take place at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia. Three Earthquakes Boy’s Academy Players Called to U.S. U-16 Boy’s National Team

Three San Jose Earthquakes Boy’s Academy players have been called up to the U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team by head coach Shaun Tsakiris, U.S. Soccer announced. Israel Carrillo, Casey Walls and Diego Luna from the Quakes Academy are three of the 36 players that will participate in the age group’s second camp of the year. During the eight-day camp, taking place from March 10-17 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., the USA will play games against mixed birth year players from LA Galaxy and Liga MX side Club Tijuana. MLS and Liga MX Join Forces in New Landmark Partnership

In the first of the newly created showcase competitions, the leagues will hold an annual Campeones Cup between the champions of each league, building on the growing rivalry between both leagues in the CONCACAF Champions League. This year's edition will see Toronto FC host either 2017 Apertura champion Tigres UANL or the winner of the current 2018 Clausura Liga MX season at BMO Field on September 19.
