A major piece of information has been revealed about Saturday’s match between the San Jose Earthquakes and Club Leon at Avaya Stadium.
During a midweek press conference, Club Leon head coach Gustavo Diaz expressed that Landon Donovan, who will be making his highly-anticipated return to San Jose, will in fact be in the starting lineup.
Donovan signed with Leon in January and has yet to feature in the XI for the side, although he has made four prior appearances. To watch the extended press conference (in Spanish), click here.
Donovan led the Quakes to two MLS Cup titles during his four years with the club from 2001-04, tallying 32 goals and 29 assists.
Tickets remain for Saturday’s match in what will likely be Donovan’s final appearance in San Jose and his lone appearance at Avaya Stadium.
