RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC will host Portland Timbers U-23 in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup May 16 after Portland defeated Kitsap Soccer Club Tuesday night.
Next Wednesday (at 7 p.m.) will be the first meeting of the clubs in Reno’s second year in the U.S. Soccer tournament.

Wednesday will be a reunion of sorts for midfielder Christo Michaelson, who played for the USL Premier Development League side before signing with Reno 1868 FC.
Reno 1868 FC made it to the third round of the Open Cup last season falling 2-0 to rival Sacramento Republic FC.
Reno will wrap up a four-match away trip this week as the club travels to Tulsa Wednesday to take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC and closes out the trip in Sacramento Saturday night.
