Open Cup - Timbers

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will take on the Portland Timbers in the Fourth Round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 6 at Providence Park in Portland. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Quakes hold a 17-14 all-time record in U.S. Open Cup play. Last season was the Quakes’ deepest run in the tournament since 2004, reaching the Semifinals following three consecutive wins against the SF Deltas (2-0), Seattle Sounders FC (2-1) and the LA Galaxy (3-2).

The two sides have met in Open Cup play four times, with the Quakes holding a 3-1 record in those contests. San Jose earned 3-0 and 2-0 wins in 2004 and 2005, respectively, before defeating Portland 1-0 in overtime during a play-in match in 2011. The most recent meeting saw the Timbers prevail 2-0 in the Fourth Round in 2016. Every U.S. Open Cup match between the Earthquakes and Timbers has been played in Portland.
