NEWS: Earthquakes Acquire SuperDraft Selection Kevin Partida on Loan

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has acquired Kevin Partida on a season-long loan from the club’s USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC.

“The fact that Kevin Partida joins us is a result of his hard work in Reno and the trust he gained with his head coach Ian Russell, to which we want to extend a big thank you for identifying him ahead of the draft,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “Despite his young age, Kevin shows a level of reliability, maturity and commitment to his team and teammates that gives us the confidence he will easily integrate into the First Team.”

Partida played for the Quakes on a short-term loan Wednesday night, starting and playing 90 minutes at right back in the team’s U.S. Open Cup match in Portland.

After being selected by the Earthquakes in the third round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft (No. 58 overall), Partida spent preseason with San Jose before signing with Reno. He made eight starts in nine total appearances for 1868 FC this season, scoring one goal. His spectacular long-range strike in Week 7 vs. OKC Energy FC earned a Goal of the Week nomination and landed him on the USL Team of the Week.

Partida played collegiately at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2013-17, alongside Quakes forward Danny Musovski. He departed UNLV with six goals and six assists in 85 total appearances, making 69 starts. He also competed in the Premier Development League, both with FC Tucson in 2017 and the Quakes’ then affiliate Burlingame Dragons FC from 2015-16.
