#WondoWatch
With his goal against FC Dallas last Wednesday, Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski scored his 142nd career goal in MLS regular season, and is just four goals shy of surpassing Landon Donovan as the all-time leading goal scorer in MLS.

Game Winner
Wondolowski’s goal against Dallas was also his 40th career game-winning goal, and he is now tied for second with Jeff Cunningham on the MLS all-time game-winning goals leaderboard.

Reaching for the top
Midfielder Vako scored three goals in two games last week, with two tallies coming against FC Dallas and one against Vancouver, to bring his season total to nine. He is now the second-highest goal scorer on the Quakes this season behind Danny Hoesen (10).

International Duty
Four Earthquakes are with their respective national teams this week. Anibal Godoy is with the Panama National Team for a friendly against Venezuela, while Jahmir Hyka (Albania), Vako (Georgia) and Guram Kashia (Georgia) will compete in the UEFA Nations League.

Avaya Stadium to Host U.S. WNT Friendly Against Chile Sept. 4
The San Jose Earthquakes will host the U.S. Women’s National Team for a friendly against Chile on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. PT. The match will be televised on ESPN2 and Univision Deportes. “We are excited to host one of the most respected and competitive national teams in the world again,” said Earthquakes President Tom Fox. “The athletes on U.S. Women’s National Team are excellent role models for the thousands of young soccer players in the Bay Area, and we are looking forward to welcoming them back to San Jose.” Read the full story here.

Avaya Stadium to Host Cal vs. Sac State Soccer Match on Sept. 6
Avaya Stadium will host a men’s college soccer match between the University of California, Berkeley and Sacramento StateUniversity on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. The non-conference NorCal matchup is the first NCAA contest at Avaya Stadium since the Women’s College Cup in December 2016. Earthquakes to Host Beer Fest at September 15 Match Against Sporting Kansas City
The San Jose Earthquakes will host the second annual Beer Fest, presented by Lagunitas, featuring eight breweries, including six local to the South Bay, at Avaya Stadium on Sept. 15 as part of the game day activities for the match against Sporting Kansas City. All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The Beer Fest will start at 5:30 p.m. at a beer garden located in the 7UP Epicenter and will last until kickoff. Beers from the following breweries will be available for tasting in the beer garden: Camino Brewing Co., Faultline Brewing Company, Hapa’s Brewing Company, Hermitage Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Santa Clara Valley Brewing, Strike Brewing Co. & Warehouse Taproom and Oakland United Beerworks. Quakes to Provide Fans with Wondo Pins to Countdown Forward’s Record Chase
The San Jose Earthquakes will provide fans with limited-edition Chris Wondolowski countdown pins, or Wondo Pins, at their home matches for each goal that the forward scores as he closes in on Major League Soccer’s all-time goals record. Wondolowski has scored 142 goals in MLS regular season play and is four goals shy of surpassing current record holder and American soccer legend Landon Donovan’s 145. MLS to "GO GOLD" in September for 5th Annual Kick Childhood Cancer Campaign
MLS WORKS, Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative, will officially launch its 5th annual Kick Childhood Cancer campaign benefitting Children’s Oncology Group, on Saturday, Sept. 1 as part of childhood cancer awareness month. Supported by all 23 MLS clubs, the month-long campaign will feature a commemorative gold adidas Nativo 2018 Official Match Ball and limited-edition merchandise designed by Los Angeles based illustrator Daniel Sulzberg. Kick Childhood Cancer campaign elements will also take place in-stadium, on League social and digital channels, and national and regional broadcasts. Read the full story here.
