Quakes Winterfest returns to Avaya Stadium

The San Jose Earthquakes’ third-annual Winterfest will return to Avaya Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The holiday festival will feature 20 tons of snow and holiday-themed activities, including rotating performances, inflatable games and a craft fair. Canned goods are a suggested donation upon entry to the festival and will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. The two-acre 7UP Epicenter at Avaya Stadium will be transformed into a winter wonderland with decorations designed by Local Color San Jose, a local incubator for artists. With 20 tons of snow available for snowballs and snow angels, fans will have an opportunity to have a true winter experience and should arrive early to catch the snow before it melts or reserve a predetermined time here. Four Quakes Players Called to Respective National Teams

San Jose Earthquakes defenders Harold Cummings and Guram Kashia and midfielders Anibal Godoy and Vako have been called to their respective national teams for the upcoming international window. Kashia and Vako will join the Georgia National Team for matches against Andorra on Thursday, Nov. 15 (11:45 a.m. PT) and Kazakhstan on Monday, Nov. 19 (9 a.m. PT) as part of the UEFA Nations League. With a perfect 4-0-0 record, Georgia currently leads Group 1 in League D and have already secured promotion to League C despite having two games remaining. Read the full story here.


Earthquakes defender Nick Lima joins Hertha Berlin for a Training Stint

San Jose Earthquakes Homegrown defender Nick Lima has joined Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin for a training stint from Nov. 13 – 24. Lima, 23, started all 34 games in the 2018 season for the Quakes, and led the team in minutes played with 3,049. He scored two goals and provided two assists in his second professional season, having signed as a Homegrown player on Dec. 21, 2016 ahead of the 2017 MLS regular season.


Major League Soccer and adidas Reveal the 2019 Official Match Ball

Major League Soccer and adidas revealed the newest Official Match Ball for the 2019 MLS season, the adidas NATIVO QUESTRA. Newly constructed with improved internal materials and tested by the world’s top players, this reimagined release of the NATIVO match ball pulls inspiration from the 1994 FIFA World Cup ball to commemorate the only time the global tournament was held in the U.S. before the 2026 tournament returns to American and Canadian soil.
