Quakes Raise more than $10,000 for Camp Fire Victims at Winterfest
The San Jose Earthquakes dedicated their third-annual Winterfest, held at Avaya Stadium this past Sunday, to victims of the Camp Fire. The Quakes raised more than $10,000 raised from the equipment sale and 20 percent of wristband sales for the North Valley Community Foundation and Paradise High School soccer teams. Earthquakes Announce Roster Moves Ahead of 2019 MLS Season
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club has exercised 2019 contract options on five players: goalkeeper Matt Bersano and defenders Harold Cummings, Paul Marie, Jimmy Ockford and Kevin Partida. The Earthquakes will not exercise options on five players: defender Yeferson Quintana; midfielders Jahmir Hyka and Chris Wehan; and forwards Danny Musovski and Mohamed Thiaw. The following players are under contract for the 2019 season: goalkeepers JT Marcinkowski and Andrew Tarbell; defenders Francois Affolter, Jacob Akanyirige, Guram Kashia, Nick Lima, Joel Qwiberg and Shea Salinas; midfielders Eric Calvillo, Magnus Eriksson, Luis Felipe, Gilbert Fuentes, Anibal Godoy, Florian Jungwirth, Tommy Thompson, Vako and Jackson Yueill; and forwards Danny Hoesen and Chris Wondolowski. Quakes Academy’s Sophie Jones Returns Home after U.S. U-17 Girls Team Knocked out of World Cup
Earthquakes Academy player Sophie Jones returns home after the Unites States U-17 Women’s team was knocked out of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay. The U.S. started off by defeating Cameroon 3-0, with two goals from Sunshine Fontes and one goal from Mia Fishel. The second match up was between the U.S. and Korea DPR, who defeated the U.S. team 3-0. The final match took place between the U.S. and Germany, who both needed a win in order to qualify for the quarterfinals. Germany defeated the U.S. team 4-0, securing the first-place position in Group C and advancing to the quarterfinals along with second-place Korea DPR. Read the full story here.
