NEWS: Quakes Re-Sign CaliSCG | eMLS Athlete

Cali SCG - Quakes

The San Jose Earthquakes have re-signed Alan Ortega (CaliSCG) as the club’s eSports athlete for the upcoming eMLS season. The Stockton, Calif. native will look to build on a busy 2018 in which he signed as the first-ever eSports athlete for the Quakes, competed in the inaugural eMLS Cup, and was named an EA Gamechanger.

“I’m excited to represent the Quakes for the second season of eMLS,” Ortega said.  “It’s an honor to be able to play for San Jose and compete at one of the highest levels of professional gaming. I can’t wait for what is to come in 2019.”

CaliSCG will make his first competitive appearance of 2019 at eMLS League Series One on Jan. 22, in Los Angeles.

Major League Soccer and EA SPORTS revealed details for the 2019 eMLS season, which will feature 22 teams, including newcomers D.C. United, Atlanta United, and FC Cincinnati and all 19 originals. Each club will vie for the 2019 eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation, to be played on Playstation 4 as the official console.

The calendar is highlighted by the inaugural eMLS League Series presented by PlayStation, comprised of two events: eMLS League Series One, hosted in conjunction with the LA Galaxy in January, and eMLS League Series Two, hosted by FC Dallas in February. Each will include participation from all eMLS professional FIFA players, with prizes awarded for performance in each series. Additionally, performance across the two eMLS League Series events will determine seeding for the 2019 eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation.
