When the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off on June 7 from France, a familiar face to Quakes fan will be part of the broadcast. Fox Sports has announced that Earthquakes analyst Danielle Slaton will be part of a five-team broadcast crew reporting from France.
Slaton’s broadcast partner will be longtime broadcaster, Scotsman Derek Rae. Rae most recently was part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia broadcast team and can be heard as part of EA Sports FIFA19 video game.
“There's a diverse broadcast team for this all-star event. I am very excited to play a role in it”, said Slaton, who is in her fourth season with the Quakes and ninth of her broadcast career. “I saw Derek Rae‘s work with Aly Wagner last summer for the men’s World Cup in Russia, and we’ve worked together for a few games already. I am eager to work alongside him this summer in France and can’t wait for games to begin.”
For Slaton, it marks another box in her successful career. Growing up in San Jose, Danielle won an NCAA Championship at Santa Clara University, an Olympic silver medal, made a World Cup appearance, had a coaching stint at Northwestern, and in 2018 was part of the first all-female MLS broadcast team.
The 2019 Women’s World Cup begins Friday, June 7 when France takes on South Korea at Parc des Princes in Paris. Avaya Stadium will host viewing parties for all 52 matches of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.
