April 29, 2005 – Troy Dayak Announced Retirement Following 2005 SeasonEarthquakes defender Troy Dayak announced his retirement from soccer following the 2005 season on April 29, 2005. Dayak played in San Jose as an original member of the Clash from 1996-98, and with the Earthquakes from 2001-05, helping the Quakes win MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003, and the Supporters’ Shield in 2005. He played 10,830 minutes, accumulating 122 starts in 129 appearances during his tenure with the club. He scored nine goals and provided seven assists for San Jose and was inducted into the Earthquakes Hall of Fame on Oct. 22, 2011.
