San Jose Earthquakes defender Nick Lima has been recognized by Major League Soccer for his performance on Saturday by being named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 10.
The third-year Homegrown Player scored the game-winning goal and made a handful of key defensive plays en route to the Quakes’ second consecutive shutout.
“Nick, as is the team, is growing game after game,” said head coach Matias Almeyda after Saturday’s match. “Seeing how he played in the previous games and this game is the Nick we would like to see: concentrated, fast, confident, and decisive. I think physically he can attack and defend, and today he scored a great goal.”
The honor is the first of the season for the Castro Valley native.
