2019 Corporate Cup Recap

The San Jose Earthquakes hosted the 10th annual Earthquakes Corporate Cup at Santa Clara University on Saturday, July 20. Twenty local businesses from the Bay Area descended on Santa Clara University to participate in the 5v5 tournament that was broken into two divisions. Each team had the same goal in mind, lift the Earthquakes Corporate Cup.


The men's division had 11 teams - Fox Racing, LinkedIn, Silicon Valley Bank, GoPro, PayPal, Zanker Recycling, ANSYS, Infineon Technologies, Arteaga's, Kelly-Moore, and East West Bank - fighting for the trophy. However, by the end of the day, GoPro were the victors. GoPro beat Silicon Valley Bank 4-1 to lift the trophy.


In the co-ed division, nine teams participated - PG&E, Simpson Thatcher & Barlett LLP., Cooley LLP., Airfield Supply Co., Pear, PayPal, Amazon Lab 126, BD Biosciences, and Peoples Associated Structural Engineers. After an exciting day of playing, PG&E took the trophy home. PG&E secured their win with a 4-0 scoreline against Pear.


These were not the only two trophies going home that day. The top scorers from each division were also awarded a Golden Boot. Julian Nash, with Silicon Valley Bank, took home the men's division Golden Boot with a 10 goal haul in the tournament. Freddy Barns, with Amazon Lab 126, scored 12 goals to win the Golden Boot in the co-ed division.
