Reno 1868 FC earned a pair of road wins against OKC Energy FC on Wednesday, July 17 and LA Galaxy II on Saturday, July 20. With an improved record of 11-4-5 (38 points), 1868 FC are now second in the Western Conference, just three points behind Phoenix Rising FC (41).


1868 FC trailed by two in the first half of their midweek fixture against OKC Energy FC. Reno scored three goals in a span of 11 minutes to complete a comeback victory at Taft Stadium.


Midfielder Lindo Mfeka set the pace for Reno’s comeback with a solo effort in the 66th minute. Five minutes later, forward Aidan Apocada, on an assist from midfielder Raul Mendiola, scores the game-tying goal. Forward Corey Hertzog celebrated his ninth goal of the season in the 77th minute, earning Reno a fourth consecutive win in league play. Earthquakes goalkeeper Matt Bersano started and played the entire match.


Reno matched its second-longest winning streak in franchise history of five matches in Saturday night’s 2-1 triumph over LA Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park. An own goal in the 10th minute gave Reno an early lead. Mendiola recorded his second assist of the week and fifth of the season with a cross headed in by midfielder Seth Casiple in the 70th minute. LA’s goal in the 75th minute denied Reno the shutout but failed to change the result.


Reno 1868 FC concludes a three-match swing on the road in a midweek match against Orange County SC on Wednesday, July 24 (1 p.m. PT) at Orange County Soccer Complex. Reno returns to Greater Nevada Field on Saturday, July 27 to face Colorado Switchbacks FC (7:15 p.m. PT). Reno will celebrate Pups on the Pitch when they host Colorado.
