RENO 1868 FC: Musovski has record night vs. Tacoma

Reno 1868 FC earned a 5-0 win over Tacoma Defiance on Tuesday at Greater Nevada Field, and a 2-1 road win over Austin Bold FC on Sunday at Bold Stadium, marking consecutive wins for the first time since July 27/Aug. 3.


Forward Danny Musovski had record night on Tuesday, becoming the first 1868 FC player in franchise history to tally four goals in a single match. Musovski scored each of his goals in the first half and was also credited with the assist on midfielder Seth Casiple’s goal in the 27th minute.


Defender Brent Richards recorded a hat-trick of assists on Tuesday, creating scoring chances for Musovski in the fourth, 26th and 41st minutes of the match.


Quakes goalkeeper Matt Bersano saved a penalty kick in the 47th minute to preserve his third shutout of the season.


Sunday’s win over Austin Bold FC marked 1868 FC’s first road win since August 3. Forward Corey Hertzog struck first for Reno, converting a penalty kick in the 20th minute. Hertzog is now at a team-leading 14 goals in 2019 and is currently tied for sixth among all USL Championship players for most goals this season.


Musovski netted his 10th goal of the season in the 43rd minute, bringing him to seven goals in his last three matches.


1868 FC have jumped back into second place in the Western Conference standings. Five matches remain in Reno’s regular-season schedule, including Friday’s (Sept. 20) road match against New Mexico United at Isotopes Park. Friday’s match in Albuquerque is set for 6:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed on ESPN+.
