FEATURE: ESPN to broadcast Quakes vs. Timbers on Decision Day

Win and We're in

On Decision Day, presented by AT&T, ESPN will nationally televise the match between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Portland Timbers on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. PT. Decision Day marks the final weekend of matches in the MLS regular season. In other words, it serves as one last opportunity for teams to make it to the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Quakes and the Timbers both have an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth on Sunday, leaving the teams in an interesting position. Five teams in the Western Conference have already clinched while Portland (6th, 46 pts.), FC Dallas (7th, 45 pts.), the Quakes (8th, 44 pts.) and the Colorado Rapids (9th, 42 pts.) are still in the running to secure the final two spots.

So what do the Quakes have to do to get to the playoffs? WIN. Well technically, there are two other ways we could get in. Below are the ways that the Quakes could make it to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs:

  1. San Jose win vs Portland
  2. San Jose tie vs Portland, FC Dallas lose vs. Sporting KC and Colorado lose or tie vs LAFC
  3. San Jose tie vs Portland, FC Dallas lose vs. Sporting KC and Colorado win by only 1 goal vs LAFC

Don’t miss Decision Day on ESPN! Vamos San Jose!
