2020 SuperDraft

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will be participating in the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft presented by adidas on Thursday, Jan. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT. The Quakes currently hold five total picks across the four-round event, including three of the first 38 selections and No. 12 overall.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft will be conducted during a jointly produced MLS and ESPN show. The show will be streamed live on Twitter, with real-time highlights from the event all in one comprehensive experience. That includes cameras embedded with players and club decision-makers, live look-ins on club draft rooms and instant engagement with fans on Twitter during the first round. Rounds 3 and 4 will be conducted via conference call on Jan. 13.

A total of 139 players are eligible for selection, including four from Saint Mary’s College, three from Stanford and one from Cal. The majority of draft prospects are NCAA college seniors who have exhausted their college eligibility. Generation adidas players and non-collegiate international players are also eligible for selection in the SuperDraft.

San Jose currently holds picks 12, 27, 38, 64 and 90. The 27th-overall selection, the first pick in the second round, was acquired from Inter Miami CF in exchange for the Homegrown Rights to University of California goalkeeper Drake Callender.
