NEWS: Oswaldo Alanis named to MLS Team of the Week for Week 1

Now that's how you make a good first impression!

After scoring a stoppage-time free kick to help San Jose earn a hard-fought point against Toronto FC, defender Oswaldo Alanis was named to MLS Team of the Week for Week 1. Alanis started a played 90 minutes in his MLS debut. 


“He was the least talked about," said Matias Almeyda in regards to him being the first Mexican player to score in 2020. "I believe in divine justice. I think we should firstly show gratitude, as we’ve done publicly, to the people at Chivas that allowed us to us bring Alanís to our club. I think he is a great player."


“I feel good. It’s always nice to score goals," said Alanis. "It’s more for the confidence of the team. I hope we can keep having the same intensity as we did today. That’s what’s going to bring us positive results.”

Alanis and the Quakes will look to build off of their late-game heroics this Saturday, March 7 as they play host to Western Conference foe. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Click here for tickets
