RENO 1868 FC UPDATE: Reno defeat Tacoma 3-1 in season opener

Reno 1868 FC will be back in action next week, with the regular-season home opener coming on Saturday against Oklahoma City Energy FC. Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. PT from Greater Nevada Field. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, and Nevada Sports Net locally. More information can be found here.


The boys in blue won their 2020 season opener over the Tacoma Defiance by a score of 3-1. The match saw appearances from several Quakes players on loan, including Gilbert Fuentes, JT Marcinkowski, Marcos Lopez, Jack Skahan and Eric Calvillo. Fuentes and Skahan each scored for Reno, with Calvillo registering an assist.


Reno 1868 FC announced the signing of two players prior to its season opener: defender Aleks Berkholds and midfielder Jared Timmer. Berkholds, 23, spent the 2019 season with the Tacoma Defiance, where he made 23 appearances with 22 starts. Timmer, 22, played collegiately at Butler, where he started 66 games, tallying six goals and 13 assists during his tenure at Butler. Reno 1868 FC’s roster now stands at 19 players with the additions of Berkholds and Timmer.
