NEW YORK, N.Y. (Thursday, April 16, 2020) – Major League Soccer today launched “Train With MLS” – a new, comprehensive digital experience on TrainwithMLS.com that features hundreds of training videos from MLS clubs for coaches, parents and recreational players of all ages and abilities.

Featuring world-class coaching from MLS clubs and first-team coaches, “Train With MLS” provides a central online location for youth players, parents, and coaches to find drills, workouts, coaching tips and fun soccer activities. With an initial library of hundreds of videos, “Train with MLS” will surface and showcase new content each week, organized in easy-to-understand categories, such as Ball Mastery, Dribbling, Fitness, and more.

“Major League Soccer is here for our young players and coaches. Helping the soccer community stay connected to the game, and the sport of soccer, in an authentic way during this unprecedented time is a priority for the League, ” said Fred Lipka, MLS Vice President of Youth Development, Player Relations and Competition. “Providing our coaches, the teachers of the game, high-quality resources, and giving soccer players of all levels premium development content is core to the ‘Train With MLS’ initiative. This is a challenging time for all of us, yet we refuse to let it stop the positive impact the League has always made with aspiring athletes and coaches.”

The structure allows soccer fans to set up training programs for athletes of all levels interested in enhancing their soccer skills. Skills are grouped into three difficulty levels (fundamental, intermediate and advanced) to allow players to progress at their own speed.

Workouts range from 30 seconds to 20 minutes or longer. Training is scalable and can be customized for athlete’s skill level. For example, the youth recreational player can work on basic toe-taps to increase ball control skills in the Ball Mastery section, whereas more advanced players can work on more difficult first touch drills using cones.

In addition to skill development, “Train with MLS” will feature mental fitness programs, strength training and cardio workouts. The portal will also offer weekly coaching talks to present more advanced training topics and discussions, perfect for coaches across the U.S. and Canada. Each week coaches will share career stories, practice plans, new interactive activities and more.

All content featured in the portal has been reviewed, analyzed and ranked by the League’s Player Relations and Competition Department, and top coaches across the League.
