COMMUNITY: Quakes Foundation commits to prioritizing food-insecurity related COVID Relief

Thank You Farm Workers - Quakes - 2020

At the Quakes Foundation, we’ve always had the primary mission of serving and promoting health and wellness of our community through a variety of programs, events and initiatives. During these unprecedented times, we’ve continued that focus by targeting our actions to health and wellness impact through food and food security programming. So far we’ve:

  • Donated all perishable and semi-perishable food on site to Second Harvest Food Bank

  • Secured over $20,000 (through fundraising and grant giving) for Alum Rock Child Nutrition Services to ensure our cities most vulnerable youth will continue to receive meals even while schools are closed. Learn more

  • Partnered with the San Jose Ultras to provide over 1,000 meals to frontline medical workers at Valley Medical Center on Friday, May 1st. Learn more

  • Partnered with El Jimador and Sutter Health to provide meals to local frontline medical workers on May 12th. Learn more

Moving forward and with the help of Quakes Fans, players, and community partners, we’re continuing our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people through food security initiatives and awareness campaigns. If you have thoughts, ideas, or projects in mind, please reach out to our Director of Community Relations, Rahul Devaskar, at Rdevaskar@sjearthquakes.com for more information or to set up a time to connect.

This Giving Tuesday let’s say thank you to local farmer workers.  If you are looking for a cause to support, we request that fans, supporters and community members direct their philanthropic giving to United Farm Workers (UFW), and their COVID Relief efforts, because the people who put food on our table do not get to telecommute.
