Quakes Sutter Health Homegrown JT Marcinkowski will joining Bay Area sports stars Jimmy Garoppolo, Steph Curry, Brent Burns, James Jones, Ronnie Lott, Brandi Chastain - in addition to San Jose mayor Sam Liccardo - for the 2020 REACH Youth Scholarship Award.
Since 1997, the REACH Youth Scholarship Program has provided college funds to Santa Clara County high school seniors who have overcome adversity to excel in academics and sports. For the past 22 years the program has been co-chaired by Lott and Chastain, who hold an annual banquet to present scholarship awards to winning submissions. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 event is now a special televised event featuring pre-recorded messages from professional athletes and celebrities congratulating the 47 high school students on overcoming the odds to achieve greatness on and off the field. Super Bowl Champion, James Jones was a 2002 REACH Scholarship recipient.
The 24th annual REACH Youth Scholarship Awards ceremony will be televised on NBC Sports Bay Area on 6/23 at 5 pm PT.
