Major League Soccer announced on May 13 that 65 former U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs will join the League’s existing club academies, including the Quakes Academy, to create a partnership that will transform youth player development in the United States and Canada.

San Jose is one of seven teams based in the Bay Area joining MLS’s elite player development platform, alongside Ballistic United (Pleasanton), Silicon Valley Soccer Academy (Redwood City), Santa Cruz Breakers Academy (Santa Cruz), De Anza Force (Cupertino), SF Glens and SF Elite (San Francisco). More information about the competition structure as well as the platform’s official brand will be announced at a later date.
