RENO 1868 UPDATE: The group leaders look to stay on top vs. Phoenix

Reno 1868 FC defeated San Diego Loyal SC 3-1 last Saturday, Aug. 22, which included a goal and assist from midfielder Tucker Bone and a club-record 29 total shots. Reno forward Foster Langsdorf scored his third goal of the season, and first as a starter. The win keeps Reno atop Group A with 18 points on the season and a +10 goal differential.

Goalkeeper Ben Beaury made six saves, tied for the fifth-most in club history for a single game. Beaury’s hit the six-save mark twice on the season, leading the club with 20 saves on the year.

Reno will return home this Saturday, Aug. 29, hosting Phoenix Rising at Greater Nevada Field. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Earlier last week, Reno forward Corey Hertzog was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after two goals in Reno’s 5-2 win over Portland Timbers 2 on Aug. 15.

Hertzog’s brace is his fourth with Reno, tied for the most multi-goal games in club history with Dane Kelly. The goals put his career total at 65, third-most in USL history. His 22 career goals with Reno are the second-most in club history, behind just Brian Brown’s 28.
