NEWS: Earthquakes kick off 2021 Home Opener with MLS is Back Week

SAN JOSE, Calif. â€“ The San Jose Earthquakes will celebrate the home opener of the 2021 MLS regular season with MLS is Back Week leading up the match against FC Dallas on Saturday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m., presented by PayPal. The week will include many fun fan-interactive activities, a Quakes virtual Town Hall meeting, and much more.


Fan activities kicked off on Friday, April 16 with the first deliveries for the Team 408 businesses and a viewing party at PayPal Park. Team 408 is a free membership program for local businesses to receive Quakes-branded gifts and swag throughout the year to proudly display in their buildings and offices.


Below is a day-by-day schedule of all the events from Monday, April 19 to Saturday, April 24: 


Monday, April 19

QUAKE IT UP DAY (1-5 P.M.) â€“ Members of the club’s front office will take to the streets to promote the Quakes’ home opener by bringing swag and game-related items to local businesses around San Jose.


Tuesday, April 20

TEAM STORE OPENS (3-7 P.M.) â€“ Quakes fans will be able to purchase all of the club’s latest gear ahead of Saturday’s home opener. In addition to the brand-new 2021 First Star Kit, the limited-edition Since ’96 ‘Clash’ retro collection items – now including headwear – will also be available for purchase. On Tuesday only, the Quakes Team Store will be giving away a free Wondo bobblehead to the first 10 fans who buy an authentic First Star Kit. Fans who make a purchase of $74 or more will also receive a special-edition Quakes Pride captain armband.


SELECT-A-SEAT (4-7 P.M.) â€“ PayPal Park will host a Select-A-Seat event, where fans can enjoy the unique experience of handpicking their season seats for the 2021 MLS Season. Fans that purchase new Quakes Season Tickets that day will have a chance to attend upcoming home matches in May. Additional Season Ticket Holder benefits will include 20% off Quakes’ merchandise and special Season Ticket Holder gift packages throughout the season. To attend, fans can RSVP here.


Wednesday, April 21

VIRTUAL TOWN HALL (5:30 P.M.) â€“ Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli and Chief Operating Officer Jared Shawlee will participate in an exclusive virtual town hall where they will chat about the 2021 MLS season, stadium protocols on the return of fans, and more, as well as answer any questions from Quakes fans in attendance. Thursday, April 22

QUAKES HAPPY HOUR (5-7 P.M.) â€“ The Quakes Foundation will host a ‘Pints for the Planet’ happy hour fundraiser for Quakes fans at Camino Brewing Co. in San Jose, with Quakes alumni Victor Bernardez and Joe Cannon present. Ten percent of all proceeds from the event will benefit the Quakes Foundation and community partners Veggielution and Valley Verde. Fans interested in attending can sign up here.


Friday, April 23

SAN JOSE LIGHT-IT-UP â€“ In celebration of the home opener, the Rotunda at City Hall and the San Jose Tower will be lit up blue.


COMMUNITY EVENT WITH VEGGIELUTION (9:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.) â€“ As part of the club’s Pledge 74 campaign, the Quakes Foundation are collaborating with Veggielution in an ‘Earth Day’ volunteering event at Emma Prusch Farm Park in San Jose. Participants will support the Veggielution Garden Box program by packing grocery boxes and helping with other gardening services. Saturday, April 24

SAN JOSE LIGHT-IT-UP â€“ In celebration of the home opener, the Rotunda at City Hall and the San Jose Tower will be lit up blue.


MATCHDAY (12:30 P.M.) â€“ The Earthquakes host FC Dallas at PayPal Park, presented by PayPal, with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 p.m. San Jose has won four of their six home openers since the stadium was opened in 2015.
