Valeri ‘Vako’ Qazaishvili played the role of hero for Georgia in Saturday’s FIFA World Cup Qualifying draw with the Republic of Ireland, tallying the game-tying goal minutes before the halftime whistle. It was Vako’s sixth international tally for his home country as they continue to fight for positioning in Group D of the European region. 

Anibal Godoy - Mexico 1, Panama 0

Anibal Godoy started and played 90 minutes in Panama’s 1-0 loss to Mexico at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. With the loss, Los Canaleros now sits in fifth place with seven points, just one point shy of the final FIFA World Cup qualifying spot in the Hex.

Chris Wondolowski was not named to the 18-man roster for Friday’s crucial 0-2 World Cup Qualifying loss to Costa Rica. With Jozy Altidore suspended for the next match on Tuesday against Honduras, look for Wondolowski to be added to the roster.
