MORAGA, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced that the Quakes II match against Austin FC II will be played at Saint Mary’s Field at St. Mary’s College on Saturday, Aug. 12. The Quakes, in collaboration with The Town FC, will bring the first MLS NEXT Pro soccer match to Moraga in an effort to grow the game in the East Bay. Doors open at 3 p.m. PT and the game will kick off at 5 p.m. PT.

When purchasing, fans can choose which group they’d like to support from a list of twelve organizations. The Quakes announcement is the latest in a series of club initiatives to expand support for soccer in the East Bay. They collaborated with Sheriffs FC to host a futsal fundraiser in San Leandro on June 23 featuring former Quakes Shea Salinas and Victor Bernardez and are working with the community to open a new futsal court there later this year. "The Earthquakes are excited to partner with The Town FC to bring this professional soccer match to Moraga while benefiting local youth soccer programs,” said Earthquakes President Jared Shawlee. “The East Bay has a rich sports culture, and the Quakes are committed to making the beautiful game more accessible to those players and fans. We’re appreciative of The Town FC and Saint Mary’s for their support of the movement to cement the Bay Area as an epicenter of soccer.”

The Town FC is a community-based professional soccer organization that launched in early 2022. The club seeks to offer programs for players of all ages and skill levels, starting with youth development all the way to professional levels of play. The Town FC is also dedicated to advancing the sport with their investment in youth soccer programs in the area.

"We're so excited to continue to grow our relationship with the San Jose Earthquakes and are tremendously grateful to St. Mary's College for allowing us into their community for this game,” said The Town FC cofounders in a joint statement. “The Earthquakes support of this event, and their leadership's commitment to making this a community fundraiser, speaks volumes to the type of impact that we feel can achieve together to further grow soccer in our area as we all head for the FIFA World Cup in 2026.”

MLS Next Pro is a third division U.S. men’s professional soccer league associated with Major League Soccer. Quakes II is competing in their second MLS Next Pro season, currently holding a 6-7-4 record while sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference. The match against Austin FC II will be the first of its kind to be held on the Saint Mary’s campus.

"This is an exciting opportunity for St. Mary’s to partner with such a high-level soccer club,” said St. Mary’s Vice President of Athletics Mike Matoso. “It will be great to showcase both the campus and quality soccer in a beautiful setting. We look forward to building the partnership in the future.”

"The Town of Moraga is delighted that Saint Mary’s College is playing host to men’s professional soccer,” said Moraga Mayor Renata Sos. “This is wonderful for the college and for the entire Moraga community. We hope that this match will be the first of many more to come.”
