NEWS: Earthquakes Announce Roster Moves Ahead of 2023 MLS Season

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes today announced their roster decisions ahead of the 2023 Major League Soccer season.

The club has exercised 2023 contract options on four players: defenders Oskar Ågren and Paul Marie; midfielder Jack Skahan; and forward Will Richmond.

The Earthquakes will not exercise 2023 contract options on six players: goalkeeper Matt Bersano; defender Tommy Thompson; midfielders George Asomani, Gilbert Fuentes, and Jan Gregus; and forward Siad Haji.

The following 17 players hold guaranteed contracts for the 2023 season: goalkeepers JT Marcinkowski and Emi Ochoa; defenders Carlos Akapo, Tanner Beason, Nathan, Rodrigues, Miguel Trauco, and Casey Walls; midfielders Cruz Medina, Jamiro Monteiro, Niko Tsakiris, and Jackson Yueill; and forwards Ousseni Bouda, Cade Cowell, Jeremy Ebobisse, Cristian Espinoza, and Benji Kikanović.

Midfielders Judson, Eric Remedi, and Shea Salinas are out of contract following the 2022 season. Salinas previously announced his retirement at year’s end.

For select players who are either out of contract or had their options declined, conversations about returning to the Earthquakes in 2023 are still ongoing.
