NEWS: International Friendly Between Pumas UNAM and Comunicaciones F.C. Rescheduled for March 24

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The international friendly between Pumas UNAM of Mexico and Comunicaciones F.C. of Guatemala at PayPal Park originally scheduled for October 15, 2023, has been rescheduled to Sunday, March 24, 2024. The match is set to kick off at 4:00 p.m. PT.

All tickets previously purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled date. New tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster beginning Monday, Feb. 5, by clicking here.

Founded in 1954, Club Universidad Nacional, more commonly known as Pumas UNAM, has collected 11 domestic titles in their history, including seven Liga MX championships, one Copa MX, and two Campeón de Campeones trophies. On the continental level, the Auriazules have collected three Concacaf Champions Cups and one Copa Interamericana. They play their matches in Mexico City at Estadio Olimpico Universitario. The current team features Mexican striker César Huerta and Argentine international Juan Dinenno, a Concacaf Champions League Golden Boot winner and Best XI selection in 2022.

Hailing from Guatemala City, Comunicaciones F.C. has won the Liga Nacional de Guatemala 32 times and the domestic cup eight times in its illustrious history, which dates back to 1949. Los Cremas have also captured one Concacaf Champions Cup, two UNCAF Interclub Cups, one Concacaf Cup Winners Cup, and one Concacaf League title. Their roster includes a number of current and former Guatemalan national team players, such as the central defense duo of captain José Carlos Pinto and Gerardo Gordillo, the latter of whom was named to the Concacaf League Best XI in 2020. 

The international friendly marks the third meeting between the two clubs since 2009, when they faced off twice in the group stage of the Concacaf Champions League.
