NEWS: PayPal Park to Host Chivas de Guadalajara vs. Club Pachuca on March 22

SAN JOSE, Calif. – PayPal Park, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, will host an international friendly between Liga MX sides Chivas de Guadalajara and the reigning 2022 Liga MX champions Club Pachuca on Wednesday, March 22. The Tour Rebaño match is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT. There will be a Fan Fest prior to the match starting at 5:45 p.m. PT, featuring live music, food, a championship trophy, and an autograph-signing session with a former Chivas legend.

An exclusive presale for Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders will begin Friday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. PT before tickets are made available to the general public later that afternoon at 2 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com.

Founded in 1906, Chivas are one of the most successful clubs in Mexico, winning 12 Liga MX titles, seven Campeon de Campeones and four Copa MX championships. Guadalajara is currently under a new coaching era, with Serbian head coach Veljko Paunović taking on the role in November 2022.

Chivas, known for only having Mexican-nationality players, is led by Mexico National Team and 2022 FIFA World Cup participants Alexis Vega and Roberto Alvarado, as well as Fernando Beltran, Alan Mozo, and new signings Victor Guzman and Daniel Rios.

Club Pachuca, the reigning 2022 Apertura Liga MX champions, have experienced success in Liga MX with seven titles. Internationally, Pachuca also holds five Concacaf Champions League trophies and one Copa Sudamericana to their name. The Hidalgo side is known to be one of Mexico’s strongest powerhouses, producing top-class players like Hirving Lozano and Hector Herrera.

Currently led by Uruguayan head coach Guillermo Almada, Pachuca’s roster features former Quakes midfielder Eduardo ‘Chofis’ Lopez, as well as Mexico National Team and 2022 FIFA World Cup participants Luis Chavez and Kevin Alvarez. The club also recently announced the signing of former LAFC forward Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango.

The international friendly marks the 14th meeting all-time between two Mexican teams at PayPal Park since its opening in 2015.
