NEWS: Pumas UNAM to Face Comunicaciones F.C. at PayPal Park in Friendly Match on October 15

SAN JOSE, Calif. – PayPal Park, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, will host an international friendly between Liga MX side Pumas UNAM and Comunicaciones F.C from Guatemala on Sunday, Oct. 15. The match will kick off at 4:00 p.m. PT.

An exclusive presale for Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders will begin Tuesday, September 19 at 1 p.m. PT before tickets are made available to the general public on Wednesday, September 20 at 2 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com and suites can be purchased via Suite Pro.

Founded in 1954, Pumas has won 11 trophies in their history, including seven league titles, one Copa MX and two Campeon de Campeones. They play their matches in Mexico City at Estadio Olimpico Universitario and led by Argentine head coach Antonio Mohamed, having taken charge earlier this year. 

Pumas features Mexican striker César Huerta, who recently scored in his international debut on Sept. 9, 2023, and Argentine international Juan Dinenno, a CONCACAF Champions league Golden Boot winner and Best XI selection in 2022. 

Comunicaciones F.C., from Guatemala City, has won the Liga Nacional de Guatemala 31 times in its illustrious history, which dates back to 1949. In addition to eight league cups, they have won two UNCAF Interclub Cups and one CONCACAF Champions Cup. Willy Coito Olivera is the current head coach, having been in the role since 2021. Their roster includes a number of current and former Guatemalan national team players.  

The international friendly marks the third meeting all-time between the two clubs since 2009, where the two teams faced-off twice in the group stages of the CONCACAF Champions League.
