SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes unveiled their 2015 regular season schedule Wednesday morning, which includes home dates against Orlando City SC at Levi’s® Stadium on Sunday, May 24 and a return to Stanford Stadium for the California Clasico against the LA Galaxy on Saturday, June 27.
The 2015 slate features 14 nationally televised games, eight of which will be played at Avaya Stadium. The club will open its new venue on Sunday, March 22 against the Chicago Fire (4 p.m. PT / FOX Sports One).
Among the marquee games is a return to Levi’s® Stadium on Sunday, May 24 as the Earthquakes host Brazilian superstar Kaka and Orlando City SC (4 p.m. PT / FOX Sports One). Last year, San Jose defeated Seattle Sounders FC 1-0 on Aug. 2 in the inaugural event at the venue with a crowd of 48,765 on hand.
The Earthquakes will also continue their tradition of playing the California Clasico at Stanford Stadium when they host the LA Galaxy on Saturday, June 27 (time and broadcast information TBD). This year’s match will mark the fifth-consecutive season the club has played at Stanford Stadium. The last three have drawn sold-out crowds of over 50,000. The match will feature a themed halftime show as well a fireworks extravaganza following the final whistle.
The Earthquakes will open their schedule with a pair of road matches – at FC Dallas on Saturday, March 7 and at Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, March 14 – before hosting three of their next four at Avaya Stadium. Following the home opener against Chicago, San Jose will face Eastern Conference Champion New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, March 28 before returning home to host Real Salt Lake on Sunday, April 5 (2 p.m. PT / ESPN2) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, April 11.
The lengthiest road trip of the year is a three-game Western Conference swing that begins with Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday, May 1. Next up is a trip to BBVA Compass Stadium to take on the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday, May 5 followed by a match against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Friday, May 8.
The club’s MLS Cup Playoff push will close with five of their last seven games at home. That stretch kicks off with the LA Galaxy on Friday, Aug. 28 (8 p.m. PT / UniMas) and Seattle on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Avaya Stadium. Next, the Earthquakes will make their debut appearance at Yankee Stadium to face New York City FC on Saturday, Sept. 19. San Jose then returns to Avaya Stadium for matches against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, Sept. 27 (4 p.m. PT / FOX Sports One), Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sporting Kansas City on Friday, Oct. 16.
The regular season will end the same way it began, with a road game against FC Dallas on Sunday, Oct. 25. That final weekend is being dubbed ‘Decision Day’ with all Western Conference games kicking off at the same time. The Eastern Conference will follow suit with a different time slot, adding drama to the MLS Cup Playoff race.
