preview

The San Jose Earthquakes (5-7-7; 22 pts.) will face Houston Dynamo FC (6-10-4; 22 pts.) at PayPal Park on Sunday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. PT, presented by Donor Network West. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

San Jose is unbeaten in eight straight home matches (4-0-4), with their only loss at PayPal Park taking place in the season opener on Feb. 26. The Quakes are 4-0-1 in their last five home matches, marking the best such record of all teams in MLS.

The Quakes are on a three-game unbeaten streak (home & away), in which they earned victories over Chicago Fire FC (July 3) and the LA Galaxy (July 13) and a draw vs. Toronto FC (July 9). San Jose is 5-3-4 overall in MLS play under Covelo.

Earthquakes forward Jeremy Ebobisse has scored 11 goals this season, tied for second most in Major League Soccer. Midfielders Jamiro Monteiro and Cristian Espinoza have tallied seven assists apiece and are one of just two sets of teammates with 7+ assists each in 2022.

Houston lost just one of their first seven matches of the season (3-1-3) before a midseason slump has seen them drop nine of their last 13 (3-9-1). Dynamo FC are led by Designated Players Darwin Quintero and Sebastian Ferreira, who have scored seven and six goals, respectively. Ferreira, a 24-year-old Paraguayan, is in his first season with the club.

The two teams have met one prior time this season, with Houston winning a high-scoring match 4-3 on April 9.
