Adam Jahmn - Training Report - 051716

On a quintessential California day Tuesday, the Earthquakes took the training field to prepare for their upcoming friendly against Real Sociedad. With the non-league match ahead, several regular starters took a lighter training day while those who would see time in the friendly got a heavier workout.

On-Field Highlight

During shooting drills at the tail end of practice, Earthquakes forward Chad Barrett drilled a shot that whizzed past David Bingham and into the top left corner of the net, inciting “Woos!” from several of his teammates.

Off-Field Highlight

The Earthquakes, in partnership with Sutter Health, are introducing the Get Earthquakes Fit program into five more local elementary schools this week (
Rocketship Alma,
Rocketship Si Se Puede,
Rocketship Brilliant Minds,
Rocketship Los Suenos,
Rocketship Discovery Prep)
, marking 13 different schools participating so far this season. Get Earthquakes Fit invites students to step up their physical activity in the classroom and at home through a fun, five-week program.

Q&A with midfielder Cordell Cato

SJEarthquakes.com:
How does it feel to be full-go at practice again?
Cordell Cato:
“It feels great. It was a bit frustrating going from playing all the time to being just in the locker room riding the bike and on the treatment table so it’s definitely good to be back out here with the guys and running around.”
SJEQ:
What’s been the hardest part of not being able to participate this season with the team?
CC:
“I think the hardest part is what you said, just not being able to play, just doing what you’re accustomed to doing. Having to stop and not do that is a hard thing to cope with.”
SJEQ:
The team has experienced some success so far this season. What do you think you can bring to the table when you return?
CC: “
Just what I usually bring. This year one of my main goals is to get more out of myself. The team has been doing good, which has allowed me to recover in the right way so when I come back I’ll offer what I usually offer and that’s hard work and doing anything to win.”
