August 2, 2009: Wondo's first goal

Chris Wondolowski began his career with San Jose in 2005, but departed along with the rest of the club to Houston following that season. His homecoming came on June 9, 2009 in a trade that sent Cam Weaver to Houston in exchange for Wondolowski and a second round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. The Danville native scored his first goal with the Earthquakes on Aug. 2, contributing to a 4-0 rout of Seattle Sounders FC.

"I still remember that game very vividly. It was a special moment scoring my first goal for the Earthquakes because they meant so much to me. I'll always remember that one," Wondo said. It's no coincidence that today's leading goal-scorer and leading assister linked up that day. Shea Salinas made the delivery, and Wondo finished it off.

And five years and 92 goals later, he’s still scoring – a lot.
