SAN JOSE (May 8, 2018) – Quakes Academy defender Jean-Julien “JJ” Foe Nuphaus is currently competing with the U.S. U-19 Men’s National Team at the Slovakia Cup, facing Kazakhstan, Ukraine and the Czech Republic in Group B in the tournament.
On Monday, May 7, the U-19s took on Kazakhstan in their first match of the Slovakia Cup. Foe Nuphaus started the match and helped secure a clean sheet for the U-19s as they defeated Kazakhstan 8-0, and on Tuesday, May 8, he started again in their 2-1 win over Ukraine.
Winning the next match against the Czech Republic on Thursday, May 10 will cement the United States’ place in the Slovakia Cup Final, which will take place on the 11th.
In his playing career, Foe Nuphaus trained with Germany’s TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for a year before returning to the Quakes Academy in 2016. He has also played for Quakes former PDL affiliate, Burlingame Dragons FC. In 2018, Foe Nuphaus participated in the Quakes’ USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC preseason camp. Foe Nuphaus currently plays for the U-19 Quakes Academy squad and is committed to play for University of California, Berkeley, which is also Quakes defender Nick Lima’s alma mater.
