Earthquakes Forward Danny Hoesen Voted MLS Player of the Week

Major League Soccer announced that San Jose Earthquakes forward Danny Hoesen has been voted the MLS Player of the Week following his two-goal performance on March 3. Hoesen scored the team’s first and third goals, including the eventual game-winner, to lift San Jose over Minnesota United FC 3-2. Hoesen, 27, is the second Earthquakes player in a row to be named the MLS Player of the Week, following Chris Wondolowski and his one-goal, one-assist performance during the regular season finale in 2017. Prior to Wondolowski last season, no Quakes player had won the award since Yannick Djalo in July of 2014. Read the full story here.



Anibal Godoy, Harold Cummings Called to Panama National Team

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Anibal Godoy and defender Harold Cummings have been called to the Panama National Team for a pair of friendlies later this month against Denmark and Switzerland. The two matches are part of the team’s preparations for this summer’s FIFA World Cup, the country’s first-ever appearance in the tournament. Read the full story here.


Quakes to Travel 44,104 Miles in 2018

Week one has come and gone, and after an early bye, the Quakes are set to hit the road for one of their 17 regular season games. The March 17 trip to Kansas City will account for just 1,838 of the 44,104 miles that the Quakes will travel this season, 4th highest in the league. Earthquakes Midfielder Magnus Eriksson Dropped Ceremonial First Puck at Sharks Game

The San Jose Earthquakes had a strong presence at SAP Center on Thursday, March 8 when the San Jose Sharks took on the St. Louis Blues. Magnus Eriksson, Francois Affolter, Florian Jungwirth and mascot Q were involved in festivities throughout the night. Eriksson dropped the ceremonial first puck and had the opportunity to meet with several of his countrymen competing for the Sharks, including Tim Heed, Melker Karlsson and Marcus Sorensen. Earthquakes mascot Q was present at the match, joining Sharks’ mascot S.J. Sharkie as they interacted with the crowd. The Earthquakes and the Sharks will continue their collaborative efforts when the Earthquakes host Sharks Night in their next home game on March 31 against New York City FC. Read the full story here.
